Triple Chocolate Vegan Donuts
Triple chocolate you say? I’m all ears…
This donut recipe came together in an attempt to create a batter that was as healthy (but as satisfying) as possible in keeping with the theme of ‘Is sugar bad for your teeth’ part of my Dental Tips Tuesday series. This is a perfect way in which natural sweeteners can be simply switched to make a recipe far kidner on the teeth so you have to worry less about snacking on sugary foods throughout the day. It also happens to be vegan, gluten-free thanks to the almond flour and absolutely bloody delicious if I do say so myself. They are incredibly versatile and can be decorated or glazed any way you do so wish.
So, what are you waiting for, get that oven pre-heating and let’s go..
Ingredients (makes 6):
-125g Almond Flour (I use Sukrin)
-25g Cacao powder (I use The Good Stuff)
-30g Apple puree
-20g Coconut oil (I use The Good Stuff)
-160ml Soy Milk (almond will also work)
-1 TSP Chocolate sweetener drops (can be omitted)
-1 TSP Baking Soda
-Pinch of Salt
-Vegan White chocolate (melted)
-Dairy free dark chocolate (melted)
1.Preheat your oven to 180 degrees then weigh out and combine your dry ingredients.
2.Add your coconut oil and apple puree then gently add in the milk till you reach desired consistency (add a splash more milk if it’s too dry!)
3.Transfer to silicone donut moulds (if using a donut tray be sure to line it with non-stick spray/oil) and bake for 12-15 minutes.
4.Allow to cool on wire wrack before melting your white and dark chocolate and drizzling on top.
